So You Want to Start Babysitting! Summer 2024 Group 1

This is for tweens and teens going into 6th to 9th grade (if you have someone older who wants to join, of course they can too!) and will be very informative but also a lot of fun! Day 1 (June 20th, 9am to 1:30 pm) will be about learning developmental stages and how to entertain and care for kids in each stage. Participants will leave with ideas on games to play and crafts to make with kids in each age group as well as fun and healthy snacks to make that kids will love! Participants will also learn how to manage difficult behavior and what to do in emergency situations. All information will be kept and organized in their Babysitter's Ultimate Binder for easy use when they start working! Additionally, the girls will learn how to market themselves effectively and safely, helping them to have a successful business. Day 2 on June 21st, 9am to 1:30pm, is when participants will get certified in first aid and CPR through the American Heart Association. Participants will be certified for two years after completing this course.

Babysitting is a great way for participants to step into more responsibility, giving them the opportunity to show themselves as capable. Babysitting will help participants learn how to manage money and earning their own money creates a sense of pride. Additionally, babysitting helps them learn to set limits and boundaries as well as how to make decisions on the spot. Participants become role models to the kids they watch which is a big self-esteem booster for your tween/teen and babysitting is a constructive use of their time!
